Irish Whisky Finish

Well, we have the first beer post that's actually new! In two ways, 1, It's not an archive beer that I'm posting here, and it's not a beer I've consumed yet. Fun times! There was supposed to be one or two more archive beers here but I got lazy... Bah! Never mind, let's get to it:

Name: Irish Whisky Finish

Brewer: Innis & Gunn

Specs: 7.4% - 330ml

Testing Status: NEW!

Recommendation: Hey, if you live on Guinness, and whisky, you might like this.

Well what do we have here?  A new Innis & Gunn beer? Do want! While browsing in the "world beers" section of my local Tesco I came across this thing, and right away I got the point of it.

From the outset, even without much imagination, you can tell it's a St Patrick's day special, it's green, has whisky in it (apparently) and is black as night. You know exactly what this is supposed to be. I guessed it was some sort of special, and upon getting it home, yup, it's seasonal, and was probably left over. Probably would be there until stocks last.

When cracking this open, immediately you could smell the special ingredient, and at 7.4%, is likely the reason for the higher volume. Never mind the smell though, how about the taste.

I'll just say right here, it tastes how I expected, like Guinness, but, way better. Usually, I tolerate Guinness simply to get the hat... It's not my drink of choice to be sure, but this, a stout, just like Guinness, (although Scottish), does not offend. Very rich flavours, definitely a drink to enjoy slowly. It manages to preserve that classic Innis & Gunn flavour too. (If you're a regular drinker of these, then you know what I mean).

All in all, a tasty brew, and worthy of the list. Well done. Now, I'm off to hunt leprechauns...
